What is good leadership?
A leader is one who not only follows the right path but also leaves a footprint of wisdom that inspires others to follow those tracks to help them achieve their self-esteem. Leadership involves the engagement of two or more two people in which the leader inspires his follower or a group of followers to believe in their dreams and builds an inspiring vision to help them to achieve their desired goals and objectives of their life.
To me:
“Leadership is the art of making the difficult things easy for others, and a good leader is the one who makes it easier for everyone”
BK.
An effective leader possesses the following attributes:
- Establish an inspiring vision for his followers;
- Motivates and inspires others to believe in and follow the specific vision;
- Takes charge and full responsibility for achieving a particular vision;
- Formulates an effective strategy and manages the team effectively to achieve the desired vision
Nevertheless, there is no right or wrong definition for good leadership. It is just a matter of making the right decisions at the right time. According to the Oxford Dictionary of English, leadership is ‘the action of leading a group of people or organisation’.
What is public speaking?
Whenever we hear the word ‘Public Speaking’, what comes to our mind is that we are standing on a stage in front of hundreds of people and thinking about what to talk about even if we know the specific topic to discuss. Public speaking has always been a fascinating job to perform and public speakers have always been popular in the general public and are considered heroes of society.
Public speaking is giving a presentation live in front of several people. Usually, the speakers are physically present in front of the listeners but now public speaking has transformed and people are giving presentations and inspiring thousands of people by providing lectures and speeches through the internet by using different platforms such as YouTube, Podcasts, Social Media, etc. This has helped the speakers in several ways, some of which are listed below:
- Reaching to more people as compared to giving speeches and lectures live in front of the public;
- Saving much money for listeners and the organisers. No need for costly arrangements;
- Saves time and cost for the speakers as well. No need to travel to different locations that cost time and money;
- And more
Significance of Public Speaking
For many decades, public speaking has played a vital role in evolving the lives of individuals and groups of people that belong to different backgrounds like Business, Education and even Government sectors. An act of inspiring and motivating people through the words of wisdom has transformed thousands of lives and the overall system in the world in which we live and operate.
Many organisations have designed a framework, especially in the high-tech industries and the businesses and the service providers that are heavily dependent on the innovations, have indulged their workforce to communicate and build up a two-way communication system within the organisation to remain competitive within their specific industries. This is also a sub-branch of public speaking, as it includes a leader to give a presentation and the followers to evolve themselves by coming up and discussing new ideas and innovations to improve the company’s overall efficiency of operations.
Whether the public sessions are being conducted live with the presence of the general public or whether it is being given online, it has several advantages:
- It improves the confidence of both the speaker and the participants;
- It encourages both the speaker and the participants to get involved more in research work, to acquire more knowledge on specific topic areas being discussed;
- It allows the participants to think critically and come up with new and innovative ideas to perform or execute a specific task to increase the productivity levels of the work;
- It also allows businesses, individuals and Governments to communicate their products, services or ideology to their respective target markets or customers and people;
- And more
How Motivational / Public Speakers help you to achieve your Goals
As we all know all the famous and successful people have emphasised being motivated to achieve the optimum results in any work of life, this is where the motivational/public speakers come in to help people to motivate them through the wisdom of words to achieve their desired goals.
Mostly, all the top-notch organisations and aspiring individuals believe in seeking the right motivation from the relevant individuals, who help them to think positively and inspire them to take relevant actions to achieve their short and long-term goals.
Motivational and Public speakers have some of the following attributes that make their presence so important in our society that we all see them as our benchmark:
- Motivational Speakers help us to innovate new ideas
Sometimes we perform the same procedure repeatedly to execute or achieve our desired goals. Sometimes we adopt several procedures as well but even then we are unable to achieve our goals. This is mainly due to the wrong course of action that we choose and get demotivated because of it. In this situation, motivational speakers can help us achieve our desired goals, as their previous research work and their special instincts help us to think innovatively and to come up with the best and most suitable course of action to be taken to achieve our desired goals.
- Motivational speakers boost our confidence
The main job and purpose of motivational speakers is to boost the confidence level of people and to make them realise their strengths and capabilities. This helps people to boost their morale and have faith in themselves that they can achieve or perform a particular task or goal.
- Motivational speakers act as compeller
Sometimes we need someone else to tell us or guide us to execute a particular task. In this situation, motivators help us to start acting towards achieving our goals, otherwise, we might not get ourselves motivated for that particular work. We must remind ourselves that whatever work we are doing is important for achieving the organizational goals as well as our self-esteem. However, if we do not do so, then we should have someone who can remind us and motivate us and this is what motivational and public speakers are for.
